Home renovations can turn into a giant money pit, and it’s even worse when you leave yourself skint. You’ll often find yourself scrolling through multiple Pinterest boards, thinking to yourself, “I wish my home could look like that”. But not to worry, we have you covered. Here are some great inspiration ideas for renovating your home without breaking the bank.

A fresh lick of paint

If you have some leftover paint in your garage, don’t be afraid to go wild and refresh your walls. Over time, they can get a little drabby, so a fresh coat will bring them back to life. If you’re willing to go the extra mile, paint your walls two tones for a charismatic effect. Stay on trend with Blush pink, pebble grey and muted cream.

Redecorating old furniture

Do you know them old draws that are knocking around in your loft? Give it some new life with a fresh lick of paint and some new doorknobs. You’d be surprised how old furniture can be transformed into something completely gorgeous.

Recycling old samples

Do you have some old samples that are overflowing your drawer? People often forget to throw floor and fabric samples away from their past renovation. If you have some solid wood samples, paint over them and use them as groovy coasters. You’re also doing the environment a favour by recycling them! There’s nothing better than a sustainable project!

Cork Walls

A cork wall is a great idea if you want to create a functional board. You can have pin lists, paintings, handmade drawings (from the kids), and bill reminders. This cork feature will look great in your kitchen or office. They’re easy and cheap!

Floorboard shelves

Do you love the rustic look? If you have some leftover floorboards or scaffolding pipes spare from your previous renovation, feel free to re-use these and create some industrial-looking shelves! Give them a lick of paint or add some brass accents to hold them up. They will look effortlessly stylish in your home and a great project if you love DIY!

Homemade artwork

Seen some artwork but can’t quite afford it? Online, you can view everything from headshots to landscapes. Instead of buying a 700+ piece of artwork, simply print out something you love and place it in a jazzy frame. One idea we like is celebrity headshots. Glam up your home with these- vintage-inspired pieces of art and transform your home into a mini-gallery. If your walls need filling up, hang up your children’s drawings for a homely vibe. Who doesn’t love their own kids’ drawings?

Add some moulding!

If your walls are looking a little bare, why not add some moulding to your ceiling or baseboards? This simple, Victorian-style moulding technique can really spruce up your home and make it look expensive. You can also add moulding to the back of your chairs too. If you have something with a weave, simply add some MDF based wood to help create a backboard for your moulding. You can even incorporate it onto the chair’s legs too!

Change up your door handles

An easy way to decorate on a low budget is to update your old fixtures. Door handles and light switch plates can be replaced to give your home a high-end sheen. Replace your old white ones with matte gold or black to give your home the wow factor. Your guests will definitely be impressed.

Splashback

A cheap and cheerful way to spruce up your kitchen is to add some splash-back. You can easily get glass offcuts at an affordable price without breaking the bank. You can also buy stick and peel tiles which you can buy for less than £20 too!

Rugs

If your floor is looking a little bare or you need something to complete an area, consider buying yourself a rug. They come in all shapes, sizes and colours and can be used to define rooms. We recommend placing rugs with sofas as they act as a separate unit in your home. Buy rugs with tassels and textures to add some character and charm.
